DLC numerus 03 – DIRK SERRIES – ZONDAG 24 MAART 2024
Although DIRK SERRIES currently focuses primarily on free improvisation with his own label and numerous (inter)national collaborations, he has made his mark primarily with his ambient music.
He is considered one of the foremost old-school ambient artists and has been renowned for his extremely minimal and warm atmospheric music for over four decades.
His work is frequently used in therapy, (prenatal) meditation, short films, and even, in the 1990s, as the soundtrack for the aquarium at Antwerp Zoo. While the 1980s and 1990s were primarily synthesizers, Dirk now focuses on creating his music using only an electric guitar and a few effects, responding to the moment and his surroundings.
A listening concert par excellence.

DLC numerus 02 – STRATOSPHERE – ZATERDAG 3 DECEMBER 2022
STRATOSPHERE is one of the leading figures of old-school ambient music. In the early 1990s, Stratosphere began experimenting with music. Their first tracks were created using tapes and synths. After these initial steps, they also added acoustic recordings, which captured the characteristic Stratosphere sound—harmonies and soundscapes. This resulted in several releases and live performances. To further enrich the harmonic sound, they eventually added guitar.
